Favourite Fashion Models

High Fashion models. Shallow, I know. Love them superficial~Hah

I cannot really recall how exactly I come across fashion and model.. I think it was when my art teacher assigned us to collect magazines and cut some of the pages to make into I do not remember what now, back when I was in high school. Ahh, life was great and more peaceful back then...

Back to our little story, since the idea was to cut the colourful pages of the magazines, my mother suggested buying used magazines and offered to buy as many as possible. I remember grabbing random magazines at the book stall that night. But gone has the days of collecting magazines..

I casually flipped the pages but an image of Karolina Kurkova fiercely stomping the runway caught my attention. And the rest is obsession interest. Fashion and models come hand in hand, and what do you know, I am very much invested in style even before I know fashion (though what really gave me a first glance into fashion is Adriana Lima and Megan Ewing's Guess campaign at local mall. I remember being intrigued and impressed by the advertisement at the same time. I was sweet 13, dumb and naive, a good excuse thereeee)

So here are my favourite models! Tons of them actually. But on top are always always these girls:

1 Karolina Kurkova
Another fav shot in honour of genius Galliano. Good times at Dior

2 Adriana Lima

3 Daria Werbowy

4 Isabeli Fontana

5 Bianca Balti

For the new faces (runway debut roughly after 2005):

1 Constance Jablonski

2 Bette Franke

3 Marine Deleeuw

4 Sun Fei Fei

5 Aymeline Valade

There is a very obvious trend here, no? All my favourite models share few noticeable traits. They all have strong jaw and light eyes (with the exception of Sun Fei Fei). Not to mention most of them have darker hair and thicker lips. Everyone's cheekbones' game is strong too. It's everything I ever wanted for myself; tall, skinny, light eyes, strong jaw, thick lips.

I will have posts about them separately and talk about their career, fashion sense and whatever we can talk about; about models. Would also love to do a(n) (amateur) profiling on their career choices, trajectories and their current status in the industry.

That is all for now. Stay tune. Chiao~

Pop Culture: Britney Spears

Diary of a Fan Girl

"Lucky"

Once upon a time, there lived a Princess. She was the fairest of them all, and also the most famous in her kingdom.. Wait, wrong story there. Sorry. It's a long story here, but not that old. Let's do some basic math...it was 15 years ago....wow. Crazy how time never seems to wait for anyone~

Britney Spears; The Story of a Fallen Princess

I have a soft spot for Britney Spears, I know I'm going to sound like a broken record here but yeah, I am a BIG FAN. I was 11 when she debuted as a singer in 1999. It was high time on which girls my age just hit puberty.

The mid 2000's fashion...I know

I thought she was unbelievably beautiful here
then

From hairstyle, clothes, makeup, accessories, boyfriend (nope)......all heavily influenced by the pop princess. We practically grow with her through a girl's hardest phase. That is why I'm so fond of her I guess..

Albums & Songs

Compilation of her Full Albums

Her infamous single found its way to our radio/tv around mid 2000's (that country is always slow on the uptake & trends), and went on to become such a sensation. I still remember, the song was practically everywhere. Back then, there are no Youtube, Twitter, Facebook etc. Nothing and sucky internet connection to boot. We survived on MTV and Channel V. And praise to piracy Lord for the pirated VCDs too. My friends  would buy her albums but I couldn't afford even cassettes back then *cries nostalgically*. Remember when walkman/discman were the Ipod of our time, 90's kid? Good times. It was the best time indeed.

The First Album

Watched it first at a local Speedy Store.

My favourite song of hers? Baby One More Time. No contest. But to be honest, I love most of her earlier songs. Her 1st album remains her best album to me, though some people would beg to differ. To each his/her own I would say. Britney is a limited singer obviously and it went from bad to worst as time passed. Not to mention the trap of fame and wealth at a very young age, being the cash cow for both family and her recording company..it's sad (speaking like a true fan) which led to her infamous meltdown few years ago at the height of her fame.

I was so in love with her style on the right.

She's still working today because she can.

To a Brighter Future~

My sister used to mock me for obsessing over her and her songs. I was young then but still, I love her so much and I still love her today. I do feel bad to my sister for terrorizing her childhood replaying "Lucky" over and over (seriously, I cringed hard whenever the scene of me singing along Britney's Lucky and admiring the MV crosses my mind). No wonder she has a kooky playlist now. Lastly, I would like to dedicate this blog post for both Britney Spears and the late 90's. Cheers!

Ps: I bought her autobiography albeit at a discounted discounted price. Shhhh!

Quote of the Day

Life.

Long Time No See

Wow. Its been like a year since I last logged in. So many things happened and so many kind of weights gained..you know, metaphorically speaking...and literally(?) haha. Not funny, I know I know.

So what's up everyone, no one? It's been particularly eventful but not that progressive in terms of life fulfillment(?) or satisfaction on my part. But hah, who cares, life goes on, it's short so make it sweet while you are at it. And yes, I am one bitter b*tch, so here's one for ya;
Oh, yeah!

One more trouble I have lately is sleeping. I always have trouble trying to sleep, I cut my coffee, I dont *bleep* much, and other things I thought might contribute to mild insomnia.

That's all for now, hopefully I can keep updating this pathetic blog of mine consistently. Goodnight and have a good sleep everyone(no one)!

Just a missing page!

Nope, but  MISSING mangas!

Was so shocked when I went to check my tankoubon and they weren't there! The horror! And I have a hard time thinking who last borrowed them babies? *Knocks head to wall*

Covers crdt to One Piece Wiki

The best part is, some of the missing volumes are the ones that I love the most. Yeah, I love the Skypiea arc too, dont judge me! I know lots of you hated that arc simply because of the ridiculousness but I love it, the humours and jokes are killing me!

Photo crdt to Arlong Park

Alabasta arc is my favourite arc, no contest. It is the one arc that was responsible to hooking me up to OP, forever. Thanks, Crocodile (yeah that sexy beast on the right panel). ahahhahahxp

But hey, back on topic of the day....where the hell are they? I'm afraid I wont see them anymore. Yes, I can always buy a new one, but I treasure the ones I have, they are priceless....they have been with me through thick and thin for more than a decade, the tears and blood that we shed together(lol), hey we even move together to many places, together. When I look at the books, I see and feel all the hardship(creepy) of the past and it's like a motivation for me to seek for a better future. Or more like therapy??

Wish me luck in the quest of searching for them!xoxox

UPDATE: Found them! Like in a box at my bro's place. Yeah, cliche.

Quote of the Day

Quote of the Day

"The first and greatest victory is to conquer yourself; to be conquered by yourself is of all things most shameful and vile."~Plato

The quote is old and has been tossed around many times, but I still find myself to be fascinated by the quote. Maybe because I am such a neurotic mess and emotional person, who, often times, let anger gets the worst of me and regretted it later on. I just hope that, especially younger people or anyone who feels inferior or has bad control in your emotion, anger management, hatred etc, make good use of the quote. Yes it is just words, but a reminder at times won't hurt. Better than nothing.

Model of the Week: Kate King

Model of the week is Kate King

Kate King is a rising star in the modelling world, much like this generation's models such as Josephine Skriver, Emily Baker, Sui He and many more. She was scouted at the age of 13, but decided to wait until 17 years old to pursue modelling career. Wise decision I'd say. It's never too late to start your career at 17 or after finishing high school education.

Profile:

Height: 5'10" (1.80m)
Hair Colour: Brown
Eye Colour: Brown
Measurements: 22"-33.5" (US)
Shoe: 8 (US)
Agencies: Ford Models (New York). Elite (Paris). d'management group (Milan).

Birthday: December 3, 1993
Nationality: Canada

Debut:

Debuted at Fall 2011,  Kate walked 59 shows during Fall 2011. Impressive, no? Imagine working non stop, all the chaos and heat behind hectic schedule between fitting session, runway, travelling around the globe and parties, 59 is an exhausting number but the girl made it.

First Show:

First show is very important for models. It can be the catalyst for their career, tho it certainly isnt the only element to be a successful model. For Kate King and many other well-known models, their first show made an impact to the industry, thus opening more and bigger opportunity for them in the industry.

Kate's first show is Rag & Bone F/W 2011. The first show she opened is Moschino F/W 11.12

Runway:

Besides, girl's got to do the best shows such as Marc Jacobs, Louis Vuitton, Prada etc. Not bad for a start. These days, she still is a very regular catwalker on prestigious runways in Milan, Paris, NY etc.

Campaign:

In terms of campaign, Kate has done D&G S/S13,  Chloe S/S12, Tory Burch Spring 2012, Topshop F/W11 etc. I have to be honest, I never really see her as D&G girl, but after the F/W 13.14 Milan show, I change my mind. She even opened the show, woohoo, what an honour!

Before I conclude the post, I would like to wish Kate King a very bright future ahead in her career. Happy wishes and stay healthy.
